This goes long long way back in 2005 ...

Back then, suddenly, I decided to start a company. During that time, I was near the end of my third year in university, going on to the final year fourth year. So i thought, hmm ... what business should I do.

So a number of thoughts go through my mind. First, I ruled out B2B because I am still young and to do B2B well, u need to have good connections with the people in the industry. In order to build the connections, you have to be in the industry for a few good years, which I think is a too slow and vague process.

So ok, I have to do B2C then, I just need to build something that everyone likes and voila, I have a business already! So again walking and daydreaming as usual, I think that if it is something that everyone likes, it must be something social. Some real crappy ideas went through my mind. One of them is doing a peer-to-peer file sharing using mobile phone with bluetooth ... and all sorts that I got excited for a while, and realize that it crap the next moment. However, there is this idea of doing virtual world that keeps lingering on my head for quite a long time, just that I don't know what kind of virtual world to build.

So again, walking and daydreaming as usual, I imagine a virtual shopping mall filled with real world merchants selling real goods online. Sellers can open virtual shops here, and shoppers can gather their friends and do collaborative web shopping real-time. It is basically inspired by combining eBay with the interactivity offered by virtual worlds. So users not only can do collaborative web shopping, but also walk inside the mall chatting, playing at arcade game centers, catch a movie etc ... things that you and your friends will do in a real-world shopping mall.

And guess what is it called, yes very not creative, it is called vMall.

So yes finally, I had an idea of what business to do already. So its time to get started to find people to do this together. First of course is Gvinto. During that time, he is graduating already while I still had a year to go. So I called him on mobile, and he got real excited too. He says count him in, so yea! I have partners in "crime" already. But it is still not enough, to build a virtual world, I need a real strong tech guy to handle all that complexity, cause I know it is not easy. So Cymric is recruited next, and of course, he got real excited in the idea of building virtual worlds. Next I have to find someone to handle the graphics. This is the hardest, cause artists is not within my social circle. However, I do know one guy that likes to design website, so I asked him and he is in too. So yeah, an initial 4-men team is form in Fresbo. Btw, Fresbo is not called Fresbo at that time. We did not have a company name yet, just an idea called vMall.

So what happens next are really twists and turns, ups and downs. Just watch out for my next posting ... "Story of Fresbo - The team falls apart ..."
